Recovering from Deco

We will be back soon with pics from our Winter Deco frivolities!
Having almost recovered from the main weekend, there is one last dash tomorrow.

Wish us luck.
To surviving to tell the tale!  ;)

What every sewing gal needs!

Oh, how much I would love to have such a gorgeous utility area like this in my future house!

Plenty of natural light and neutral yet cheerful colour scheme, that maintains interest.
A room to make your work more enjoyable, is practical and that you wouldn't get sick or bored of too fast! =)

So well thought through to maximise space and don't you just LOVE the linoleum design!

Toodles,
M.

101 years of Miss Ginger

Happy Birthday Ginger!

Ginger Rogers is one of the Golden Era's stars that I admire most.
Witty and talented; she sang, danced, was a great actress and brought grace and humour to her films.

She also fought alongside other famous actresses of the day for better wages, (Even as the leading lady, Rogers was paid less than many supporting dancers).

Here's to Ginger a grand gal!

 Early 30's pre-blond Ginger.

Ginger with Astaire from 'Roberta'.

"...As a skilled, intuitive actress, she was cagey enough to realize that acting did not stop when dancing began...the reason so many women have fantasized about dancing with Fred Astaire is that Ginger Rogers conveyed the impression that dancing with him is the most thrilling experience imaginable".
                                                                                                          John Mueller.

I leave you with the talented Miss Rogers singing 'let yourself go!' from 'Follow the Fleet'.

Chin chin!

Friday 13th!

Its that time again, so I thought what more appropriate than 'The 13th Guest' from 1932, starring Ginger Rogers!

Please note, this is the complete film.

Enjoy!

Rainy days

There's nothing more cosy than being in a lovely fire warmed room, watching the rain trickle down the window and listening to a cheery song as you sew.
Especially if you are sewing 30s style winter garments as I am now =)

I am progressing well and will post pics of the finished article soon!
Until then, I leave you with Gene Austin singing a song that will banish any winter blues ;)

Back to the sewing machine and my winterscape!
